Employees of UNCA are provided with a comprehensive benefits package as well as other resources, policies and programs to ensure a happy and healthy work/life balance. Benefit eligible employees have access to dental, vision and health insurance plans – eligibility begins on the first of the month following date of hire. Retirement plan contributions begin on the eligibility date following election and include employer contributions for either a defined contribution or a defined benefit plan. Optional disability plans are also available. Eligible employees have access to tuition waivers for up to three courses per academic year; employees may enroll at any of the constituent UNC System campuses. Also offered are group exercise classes, and free access to the campus recreation center for full time employees, vaccine shots are also offered on campus, pretax flexible spending accounts, 12 paid holidays and 24 hours of paid community service leave each year. Leave earning employees (staff and 12-month faculty) who work at least half of the working days of their first month of employment will begin accruing vacation and sick leave immediately. Position Summary:
The Student Affairs Communication Specialist will be responsible for supporting the communication and marketing efforts of the division. This position will work collaboratively with campus partners to design multimedia marketing campaigns to share across channels to enhance student engagement and participation in events and campus traditions.
Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, this position will write and edit various communication materials, including website content, social media posts, newsletters, and email campaigns. This position would have shared responsibility for the recruitment and supervision of the Student Marketing Team. The candidate for this role must have experience in graphic design, social media management, and written communication.
Minimum Education/Experience/Skill :
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skill :
- Knowledge of basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office suite, email, booking software). Knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Ability to manage and create content for social media.
- Knowledge of web content and email marketing platforms.
- Ability to write, edit, and proofreading skills across various platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with campus community and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail to manage multiple projects and administrative tasks effectively.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new processes and technologies.
