Are you ready to build something from the ground up and leave an indelible mark on a major university campus? Associated Students Inc. (ASI) at CSUF is searching for a visionary and dynamic leader to be the inaugural ASI Wellness Director. This isn't just a job; it's a foundational opportunity to permanently shift the culture of well-being for over 40,000 students and the entire campus community.
This position is at the heart of the ASI Student Wellness Initiative and will play a critical role in the design and management of a future, state-of-the-art wellness facility.
The Opportunity: Pioneer the Future of Wellness
You will be the first-ever ASI leader responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive, holistic wellness program. Your mission is to create a culture of well-being encompassing the 8 Dimensions of Wellness (physical, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, intellectual, financial, and occupational) with a primary focus on student needs.
This is a unique chance to co-create programs directly with students through extensive outreach, ensuring every initiative is relevant, impactful, and truly meets their needs.
Key Responsibilities & Vision:
The Inaugural Build (The First 3 Years):
Pioneer & Evaluate: Design, launch, and continuously evaluate the first comprehensive wellness programs aligned with ASI's strategic goals and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
Student-Centered Design: Directly engage with students through surveys, focus groups, and partnerships with student organizations to co-create programs.
Strategic Blueprint: Develop and execute the long-term strategic wellness plan, integrating ASI efforts with key campus partners (e.g., Student Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services).
Facility Involvement: Actively participate with ASI and campus partners in the design and construction of the future ASI wellness facility.
Future Management (A Long-Term Impact):
Leadership & Growth: Build and directly supervise the future Wellness Center Staff as the department grows.
Facility Oversight: Transition to oversee the operational management of the new ASI wellness facility, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
We're Looking for a Leader Who is:
Holistic Wellness Expert: A deep understanding of the 8 Dimensions of Wellness and public health principles.
Student-Centered Advocate: Proven experience working with diverse student populations and a passion for college student development.
Collaborative Builder: Excellent ability to motivate, inspire, and build strong partnerships with students, university departments, and community resources.
Data-Driven Strategist: Experience with data analysis and outcome measurement to inform and improve program efficacy.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field with significant relevant experience will be considered.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in developing and managing wellness programs, specifically within student-focused organizations.
Proven track record in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
Experience supervising staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field.
Experience in a college or university setting.
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES/MCHES).
Facility management experience is highly desirable.
The Associated Students provides for student governance, shared governance of the university, programming of student activities, funding of campus organizations and athletics, and the operation of a nationally accredited child development center. As an auxiliary organization, the Associated Students does not receive any funding from state sources and does not fund campus operations customarily funded from state sources. The Associated Students provides student development opportunities through leadership, volunteer, and employment experiences. In addition, the Associated Students provides campus community members with important social, cultural, and recreational opportunities, as well as, a wide range of programs and services.
