POSITION DETAILS
New York City College of Technology (City Tech or the College) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees in technology and health related degree programs, other career-oriented degrees and liberal arts transfer degrees in its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Technology and Design, and Professional Studies. City Tech invites applicants for the position of Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.
Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (EMSA), the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs (AVP) provides leadership direction, strategic planning and supervision for the following units: the Center for Student Accessibility, CUNY EDGE Program, Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability, Office of Student Life and Development, Our Children?s Center, the Percy Ellis SEEK Program, Recreation and Intramurals, the Student Success Center, and Veterans Support Services.
The Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs serves as an advocate for students and provides strategic vision and oversight to developing and implementing programs and services that achieve the College and division mission, goals, and objectives. The successful AVP will provide leadership for student life culture that promotes civility, celebrates diversity, and encourages an inclusive campus climate.
Further, the Assistant Vice President will:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for student support services and student conduct operations, ensuring the consistent application of CUNY policies, student development theory, and judicial affairs best practices in promoting student accountability and success.
Engage in program planning, budget development, and staff supervision.
Participate in the analysis, review, creation, and interpretation of student policies and procedures.
Implement Student Affairs policies and programs related to retention, student conduct, accountability, including academic integrity, and emergency response.
Establish and monitor unit goals, objectives, and key performance indicators to determine effectiveness of outreach, opportunities for intervention, and potential improvements to practices.
Oversee the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) processes, including appeals and compliance with federal financial aid and NYS TAP regulations.
Lead the EAB Navigate coordinated care network and other related initiatives to enhance student success.
Oversee the behavioral intervention team (BIT).
Develop innovative strategies to enhance student progression, persistence, and graduation outcomes.
Integrate technology solutions effectively into all aspects of the student experience.
Assist the Vice President in providing leadership and oversight in implementing continuous improvement efforts, formulating Division goals and objectives, and evaluating the Division?s targets and goals and Performance Management Process in support of the College and CUNY goals/targets.
Represent the Vice President as designated assigned and delegated.
Fulfill other leadership responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
A master's degree in a relevant discipline, eight years of progressive experience in higher education, and an outstanding record of accomplishment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate or terminal degree strongly preferred.
At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in student affairs administration.
Established record of success with student development, leadership, engagement, athletics, and other aspects of student life.
Experience with collaborative projects between student affairs and academic programs.
Proven success with student retention strategies and initiatives.
Expertise in strategic planning and assessment of learning outcomes.
Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills required; the ability to develop and maintain collaborations involving students, parents, staff, faculty, administration and the community are essential.
Knowledge of current trends and practices in student services and the ability to create and implement "cutting edge" progressive initiatives to organize and implement change.
Flexibility to manage multiple complex roles which require a broad knowledge base.
Ability to articulate the philosophy of Student Affairs and its contribution to student development.
Experience serving in a metropolitan academic institution with a diverse student body preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$150,000-$170,000. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
