General Statement of Duties:
The Assistant Coordinator of Civic Engagement supports the Brewer Center's civic engagement and student leadership programs through inclusive, data-informed coordination of service, volunteerism, and civic learning initiatives. This position advises students on civic/service opportunities, supports student leadership development through the Student Leaders in Civic Engagement (SLiCE) program, maintains community partnerships for student placements and opportunities, and contributes to event planning, budget tracking, academic integration, and outreach efforts that foster broad and equitable participation.
Responsibilities:
Student Support & Leadership Development
Advise and support students participating in civic engagement, volunteerism, and the SLiCE leadership program.
Recruit and engage students from diverse backgrounds in service and leadership opportunities.
Help students connect their community experiences to academic and career goals in coordination with faculty and advisors.
Coordinate the service recognition process for graduating students.
Triage student requests to appropriate staff/departments
Community Partnerships & Program Coordination
Serve as liaison to local nonprofits and public service organizations for student placements and projects.
Coordinate logistics and student participation for community-based events and off-campus service opportunities, including required documentation.
Collaborate with the Director and faculty to align service learning opportunities with curricular goals and co-curricular programming.
Outreach, Communications & Inclusion
Create and distribute promotional materials to raise awareness of civic engagement opportunities.
Ensure outreach is inclusive and accessible, including multilingual and culturally responsive communication.
Represent the Brewer Center at college events and orientations.
Administration, Budget & Evaluation
Coordinate Brewer Center events and activities, ensuring that logistics (room reservations, contracts, food, materials, etc.) are managed, including, but not limited to: civic engagement events and speakers, nonprofit trainings/meetings, service recognitions, celebrations, days of service, civic/service workshops or trainings.
Track and document program expenses, purchases, and budget activity in compliance with college guidelines.
Maintain records of student placements, partner organizations, and participation data.
Administer and collect student feedback and examine participation trends to inform program improvements and equity-focused outreach.
Responsible for maintenance of office management including supplies, calendars and coverage, general correspondence, answering program questions and event coordination.
Participate in college-wide committees, professional development, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a closely related field.
Two years of experience in student activity coordination, leadership development, civic engagement, or a related field.
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education and with diverse student populations.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Canva or other content design tools.
Familiarity with service learning, student leadership, or civic engagement programs.
Multilingual abilities or cross-cultural communication experience.

Additional Information:
Campus Title: Assistant Coordinator of Civic Engagement Salary: $56,985.00-$97,130.00
**** Actual Salary determined by education, experience, and any applicable grant limitations per the collective bargaining agreement. Applicants should be aware it is unlikely the salary will be at or near the top of the range.
