The primary location for this position is the main campus in Cullowhee, NC.

Reporting Structure
The Assistant Director for Operations (Days) reports to the Senior Assistant Director for Operations and provides support for day-to-day operations and events held in Campus Activity-operated spaces during weekday daytime hours. During normal shift hours, this position serves as the professional staff for all events designated by the Event Management policies and procedures. The Assistant Director will coordinate with campus partners, third-party contractors, and vendors to ensure the success of these events.

Student Staff Management
The Assistant Director for Operations will recruit, train, and supervise a staff of 15 – 30 student workers. Responsibilities include scheduling the student workers for building and event management and customer service, as well as evaluating and providing ongoing feedback on their job performance. This position will also serve as a mentor and coach to support the professional development of student staff and will collaborate with the Senior Assistant Director for Operations to create a comprehensive training program for the student tech crew.

Event Coordination and Support
The Assistant Director will review event set-up information to ensure accuracy and completeness before the student tech crew begins their work. This role involves directly managing and serving as a resource for the set-up of events and activities within DCA-operated spaces and other approved designated areas. Additionally, the Assistant Director will provide support for other designated WCU events as needed.

Maintenance and Policy Review
This position will assist in maintaining and updating equipment to enhance DCA programs and the University Center. The Assistant Director will also review and provide recommendations for updating DCA policies.

• Knowledge of sound equipment and operating a live concert sound system.
• Experience with live events and crowd management techniques
• Working knowledge of 25Live or other event reservation software.
• Ability to use Microsoft Suite (MS Word, Excel, etc.)
• General knowledge of facilities maintenance.
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications;

• Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
