Position Summary:
The McGoogan Health Sciences Library seeks an Education & Research Services (E&RS) Librarian to join our highly collaborative library faculty. This full-time, 12-month position serves as the primary research and instruction liaison to the College of Medicine. The E&RS Librarian will engage in curriculum-based instruction, perform literature searches, guide researchers, and provide outreach to students, faculty, staff, and UNMC-affiliated partners. They will be a vital part of a team that seeks to learn together, support each other, and contribute to a shared mission in a vibrant academic health sciences environment. As a member of the library faculty, this role also includes participation in shared governance of the library, service on university committees, and active involvement in relevant professional organizations.
The Education & Research Services Librarian, Medical Education works collaboratively with a team of librarians to provide instruction, reference and research services, supports College of Medicine curricular activities, and serves as a liaison to colleges or departments.
I. Education Responsibilities 65%
Supports the College of Medicine curricular activities including coordinating library-led self-directed and problem-based learning components. Includes updating and developing assignments, building Canvas modules, and assessing student work.
Functions as a liaison to assigned departments, centers, or other units.
Works in close collaboration with a team of librarians to support students, faculty, and staff with their research and learning needs.
Cultivates partnerships and collaborates with university faculty on projects, including teaching, grants, manuscripts, papers, and/or poster presentations.
Participates in a team approach to providing prompt and effective reference, consultations, literature searches, and instructional services to students, faculty, and staff.
Develops online tutorials, workshops, and classroom programs to promote information literacy, and critical evaluation of health sciences information.
Develops and maintains research guides for specific disciplines and subjects.
As part of the systematic review team, conducts systematic and scoping reviews as a co-author with UNMC faculty.
Participates in library outreach.
II. Research Responsibilities 25%
Expands the knowledge base of the field by engaging in research or creative works associated with the investigation, creation, discovery, understanding, or interpretation of professional knowledge or practice. Prepares and disseminates tangible evidence of these activities.
III. Administration and Service 10%
Contributes to the development and implementation of strategic plans in support of UNMC's education, research and patient care missions.
Participates in shared governance of the library.
Serves on library, UNMC, and NU system committees.
Participates in professional activities and professional development.
Manages or assists with special projects.
The above and other duties and responsibilities shall be subject to the direction of the Associate Dean of Education & Research Services in consultation with the Dean of McGoogan Library and may be modified at their reasonable discretion.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree in research-related field or master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution.
At least one year of experience as a librarian in an academic or health sciences library.
Experience conducting literature searches and providing instruction in research databases.
Demonstrated teaching skills.
Knowledge of information literacy in health sciences disciplines.
Ability to develop high quality curricular materials, i.e. guides, tutorials, videos, and/or online modules to meet defined learning outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and connect with students, faculty, and staff.
Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Salary Range: $62,000- $85,000 - salary commensurate with experience
