Under the direction of UChicagoGRADâ™s Manager for Events and Student Spaces, the Student Activities Coordinator will handle strategic planning and execution of various programs. This position will also manage event budget and track expense.Coordinator must have or obtain familiarity with the University of Chicago and UChicagoGRADâ™s mission, along with avenues needed to achieve office goals. The position must understand the trajectory of graduate education from application and matriculation through graduation and beyond. Some work will occur outside of regular business hours as needed to support scheduled programming, a flexible workday will seek to optimize preferences of the Coordinator while balancing the needs of the office.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with team members to plan or host events.
Schedule space as needed.
Coordinate food or beverage service.
Handle AV needs.
Perform or oversee event registration or check in.
Competencies:
Ability to effectively build and manage relationships with a variety of partners and stakeholders.
Commitment to providing a high level of service and work in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage time.
Familiarity with the culture of UChicago graduate student and postdoc populations.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and under tight deadlines.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
