Job Summary Develop and provide oversight to the Bethel University College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) student programming including, but not limited to oversight of Bethel Student Government. Share responsibilities with Student Life for mentoring, and assisting students with personal and education related issues. Responsibilities
Advise Student Programming: Oversee event planning, development, training, budgeting, and implementation of all Bethel Student Government events and programs; Directly Supervise Student Body President, Vice President and the student Executive Financial Officer, Executive over Student Activities, Executive over Communications and Marketing, Student Council. Shared supervision over Executive of Student Ministries, Executive of United Cultures of Bethel, and Executive over Clubs and Organizations); Provide oversight with the Student Executives of 19 student Director positions and approximately 100 student member positions.
Student Interaction: Weekly one-on-one meetings with the Student Body President, Vice President and Executive team, Student Council meetings, Executive team meetings, Student Activities Director meetings; periodic meetings with student Director positions and Campus partners.
Administrative Duties: Documentation, accurate record keeping, management of budgets and approvals of student expenses, confidentiality, writing annual goals and reports, and email communication.
Event Support: Attend evening/weekend events to provide guidance and support for student teams including mainly focused on Student Activities. Occasionally attending events for Student Ministries and United Cultures of Bethel based on needs from their direct advisor from Campus Ministries and Office of Inclusive Excellence. Participate consistently on Monday night with Student Council Meetings.
Shared Responsibilities: Share responsibilities with Campus Engagement team including, Welcome Week Programming, Underground, and Brushaber Commons. Share responsibilities with other Student Life staff in assisting with student leadership development and mentoring.
Role Model and Leadership: Demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, maintains a positive attitude about BSG and the Clarion, engaged in staff relationships, contributes to a welcoming environment to Student Life, positive role-model, and leader on campus.
Required Skills
Knowledge of and ability to apply student development theory.
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills are necessary.
Ability to manage and supervise student staff.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work with a diverse student population in a variety of settings.
Ability to work in a professional and confidential manner with all staff, students, parents, and publics is essential.
Proficiency in word processing and budget management.
Willingness to obtain technical training for the use of early alert software programs.
Experience
Required Experience:
2+ years of experience in a related office.
Education
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Additional Information
Able to sit for extended periods of time in individual and group meetings.
Lifting involved in event set up.
Flexibility in working nights and weekends is required.
Position requires frequently working nights and weekends during the academic school year.
