The Director of Operations provides overall leadership and supervision of the following operations: Union building services, other Auxiliary Services facilities operations, Event Management and Union Theater. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations, capital improvements, property/space inventory, including 12 dining venues, Bookstore, Club at Union Square, Union and warehouse space. Also supervises custodial services, key distribution, and Information Desk for the Union. Supervises 5 direct reports and is responsible for approximately 20 trades/classified employees. Monitors budgets. May involve some evenings/nights, occasional duty for extended business hours and coverage during campus emergencies.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise five direct reports: 1 Manager Operational Contract Compliance, 1 Assistant Manager, Union Operations, Union Theater Manager, and two Event Management Coordinators. Oversee and direct the maintenance and building services operations and staffs for all department facilities and related grounds, to include capital improvements, renovations, construction, general maintenance, infrastructure repairs, and preventative maintenance and overall cleanliness and sanitization. Oversight also includes Union custodial services and event management staff. Supervise emergency management measures, safety, and facility security in preparation for and during emergencies.-40%
Oversee monitoring of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, utility usage and roofing systems. Monitor facility physical and environmental conditions, building security, ADA/life safety and related systems. Administer preventative maintenance programs and procedures to ensure reliable operations of facility systems. Provide technical and historical data for facility systems. Coordinate with LSU Facility Services and monitor contracted maintenance repairs and upgrades. Ensure unit's compliance with EHS policies and procedures. Direct quality assurance initiatives to include monitoring of campus wide vending (snack and beverage) equipment. -25%
Oversee and ensure the smooth coordination of LSU Student Union Theater and Event Management reservations, which includes several outdoor spaces including Free Speech Alley and the Parade Grounds. Oversee the Union scheduling priority process, meeting and event room set ups, event billing, and facilities use agreement when required. Ensure the Information Desk is providing services with the utmost efficiency and customer service. - 25%
Oversee the development and management of budgets, to include department budgets and expenditures. Ensure the accuracy and smooth operation of the internal automated work order system, etc. Oversee space inventory, department inventory, equipment, and property. Other duties as assigned. -10%
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and seven years of experience, three of which are demonstrated professional experience supervising staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree with experience working in higher education; strong budget management skills; ability to work with students and staff from diverse backgrounds; technical knowledge of structural, mechanical, electrical, utility, and building systems; experience with supervising classified employees.

Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. Director of Facilities and Operations is an Essential Employee to the University and will adhere to LSU Policy Statement 18. Will be required to demonstrate physical ability to perform manual work.
