This position reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and is annually renewable. This position contributes to creating a vibrant campus community characterized by a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging for students with diverse identities including first-generation college students; students of various racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds; students from low-income families; students from rural communities; students with disabilities; LGBTQ students; and non-traditional adult learners. Primary areas of responsibility are to plan and support the overall student transition through orientation, create student experiences through various campus activities programming, Homecoming, and Student Awards. This position will also work collaboratively with the Student Success Center on retention interventions for students.
The salary range for this position is $58,050 to $62,000 depending on qualification and experience.

Appointment and Reporting:
Reports to the Director of Educational Programming & Transitions.
Functions and Duties: Campus Programming
Plan, organize, and implement educational programs and activities in partnership with staff, faculty, and students (Constitution Day, Student Awards, Homecoming, and Transition Crookston).
Work collaboratively with students to develop events and programs both in-person (where feasible) and online that are informed by theory and best practices.
Ensure diverse programs, activities, and initiatives to meet the varying needs of the student population groups.
Advise Golden Eagle Entertainment (GEE) and provide leadership in the recruitment and training of executive members and other student leaders involved with the organization.
Participate in the Student Affairs team.
Serves as Concerts & Lectures chair for UMN Crookston campus
Facilitate the coordination of master internal planning calendar for campus programmers
Work directly with the administrative specialist for Student Affairs in purchasing efforts within the Information Desk, Sargeant Student Center, and Leadership Room
New Student Onboarding, Programming and Student Transition Support
Coordinate transfer student and non-traditional student onboarding (Transition Crookston) in fall and spring semester including, but not limited to, schedule creation, logistics planning, marketing, internal and external communication and assessment.
Assist the Assistant Director of Engagement & Transition Programs with Student Orientation, Advisement & Registration (SOAR) in the spring & fall semesters, and Welcome Weekend in the fall.
Support programming initiatives of the Director of Diversity, Equity, & Belonging.
Acknowledge the specific and particular realities of underrepresented populations including but not limited to various racial and ethnic groups, first-generation college students, students from rural and agrarian communities, students from low-income families, LGBTQ students, students with disabilities, and religious minorities.
Foster an educational approach to programming and advising aimed at building community engagement.
Communicate regularly with the Office of Admissions on the recruitment class and transfer student/non-traditional student initiatives
Collaborate with the Director of Student Success and Academic Advising on the development, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive student success and retention plan to include strategies and interventions informed by theory, inclusive and equitable practices, and data-informed practices that enhance student retention and graduation rates.
Other Duties
Develop, implement, and assess departmental learning outcomes.
Work with Information Technology in keeping websites and electronic communication platforms updated.
Develop, maintain, and reconcile applicable budgets.
Attend appropriate committee meetings and staff meetings.
Actively participate in larger student affairs events as a resource and support.
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Educational Programming and Retention Efforts
Work directly with the Assistant Director of Engagement and Transition Programs and assist with the development of engagement and retention initiatives, including but not limited to, family weekend, parent/family communications, and other community building efforts.
Promote collaborative programming with Multicultural Affairs and International Student Programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelorâ™s degree plus at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus at least two years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competence, and achievement in working with diverse student populations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with faculty, student affairs educators, and students.
Ability to provide sound fiscal management and budgeting.
Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masterâ™s degree in Student Affairs or a related field
