The Student Activities Supervisor/Substitute Teacher supports Packer’s Middle School and Pre/Lower School with lunch duty, study hall, and community time. Reporting to the Directors the Student Activities Supervisor plays a key role in organizing and monitoring student breaks and activities. The successful candidate would be comfortable working with a range of student ages, have an understanding of children’s development, and be able to foster and maintain safe, positive, and joyful relationships in a school setting.

Essential Functions:
Supervises Middle School breaks, garden duty, & Community Time; which includes DEAR(Drop Everything and Read) & Study Hall
Supports Early Morning Care for Lower School Students
Supports the Early Learning Center classrooms during teacher lunch breaks
Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive learning environment for all students in accordance with school policies;
Ensures adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students;
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline/behavior problems to the appropriate Homeroom Teachers (Pre/Lower School) or supervisor as soon as possible;
Supports the division offices with paperwork and admin tasks as needed
In some circumstances, if required, steps into classrooms as a substitute teacher

Education: College Degree Preferred
Experience:
Two years of experience working with children in an Elementary setting, preferably ages 3/4 to 12 years of age.
Experience collaborating on a team and working to meet a common goal
Skills:
Minimum skills: Maintain effective classroom management strategies and follow oral and written directions. Establish effective working relationships with staff and students.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move over 30 pounds. Specific vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is in the classroom and the common areas at Packer and the Early Learning Center. The noise level in this work environment is usually noisy.
