The Assistant Director for Arts & Programs in Norris University Center, leads, plans, executes, and evaluates programs and services that further student learning, engage the community, and enrich the experience as it relates to Northwestern University. The Assistant Director accomplishes this through oversight of Norris Center Programs, Dittmar Gallery, ARTica Studios, and helping support Norris marketing and social media efforts. Supporting student development, leading and guiding student employees, and engaging students throughout Norris is essential to successfully managing this job. This role will support arts programs and services throughout Norris with a specific focus on our ceramics and creative studio, and on-site art gallery. Additionally, this role will plan and support a number of annual large-scale programs as well as regular ongoing programs and events.
Please note: Position requires an average of one evening or weekend day of work per week; schedule will flex to accommodate. Up to one remote day per week on average can be scheduled.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
2 years program/project administration or other relevant experience
Minimum Competencies:
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with college students
Knowledge of fiscal management
Ability to work in a diverse environment
Demonstrated understanding of college union programming
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s in Higher Education or related field
3-4 years of experience in college union, auxiliary services, and/or student activities programming
Relevant experience in arts related programming and support
