UCSF is searching for the next leader to serve as Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) of our Facilities Services Department, one of the most diverse departments at UCSF. The AVC must provide skilled leadership in the areas of Diversity & Inclusion, Emergency Management & Recovery, Inclusive Facilities, and Campus/Research Resilience. This dynamic leader must strategically scale FS services to an increasingly larger University. The UCSF Long-Range Development Plan forecasts an increase in the University square footage by nearly 30% between 2013-2035. With each newly constructed campus building, FS must staff up and hone skills to operate the building and maintain it over the decades. In addition to adding new square footage, the University is expanding its geographical reach and now requires FS to manage facilities at new off campus locations and new locations outside of the Bay Area. The AVC is responsible for providing strategic leadership for utilities and power plant services, stationary engineering and skilled trades services, building maintenance and repairs, custodial services, grounds and pest-control services, recycling services, customer service, security, fire safety systems and building systems, access control and lock shop, general project management, building condition assessment, deferred maintenance prioritization, building renewal prioritization, and construction project management. Many of the services under the leadership of the AVC are provided to UCSF Health facilities, specifically elevators, access controls and lock shop, fire and life safety systems, power plant operations, and landscaping / pest control.

Oversees all facilities management for a major UC location, with multiple buildings and variety of operations, including teaching, research, healthcare and general operations. Directs overall strategic planning for capital projects concerning renovations; facility services; utilities and infrastructure services; physical plant resources; sustainability; and safety and emergency preparedness.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
