This is a live-in position working full time year round.
SCOPE OF WORK: Supervises and coordinates daily activities and operations of student life. Ensure residential facilities are safe and properly maintained. Responsible for programming, supervision of student residential staff, conduct, and emergency response for housing. Responsible to develop, implement and assess campus-wide co-curricular programming, including serving as an advisor to student senate. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs at LRCC.
Develop and manages all on-campus Residence Life services including, but not limited to: housing applications, student billing, room assignments and changes, policy and procedure enforcement.
Supervises student workers including Resident Assistants and coordinates hiring, training and evaluation.
Assists the Admissions Office in on and off campus recruitment activities promoting student life.
Investigates and responds to concerns and complaints of students, parents, and LRCC personnel, in a manner that provides accurate information and fosters good public relations.
Responds to crisis situations and works with public safety and/or LRCC personnel in the handling of emergency situations.
Assists Campus Safety personnel to ensure the safety and security of student residents and reports any damage to LRCC Maintenance and/or LRCC Campus Security.
Works with LRCC building maintenance personnel and reports required apartment maintenance, cleaning, and refurbishment.
Develops, promotes, and implements diverse campus-wide programs to meet the co-curricular needs of the campus community. Programming efforts include social, multicultural, intellectual, recreational, governance, leadership/followership, group development and community service, which reinforce academic learning and provide opportunities for engagement.
Provide leadership, guidance and support for student clubs and organizations members and advisors, including assistance with program/event evaluation.
Develops assessment plans and reports to evaluate effectiveness and satisfaction with the student activities and leadership programs.
Develops materials, including brochures and advertising for campus activities and community service programming, as well as student clubs/organizations offerings.
Interacts with faculty, staff, students, and business/professional community to provide
Complies with all college, system, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Serves on campus or system committees and teams as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Experience: One year of full-time experience in the field of student development as an advisor, resident assistant, program coordinator, or counselor, preferably within a residential setting.
License/Certification: None required.
Special Requirements: The Campus Life Director position is a live-in position. Adjustments to work schedule and some travel may be required due business necessity or emergency situations.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of student development theory and practice. Knowledge of listening skills and referral techniques. Ability to maintain rapport with faculty, students, and staff. Ability to manage a variety of tasks in a timely way. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
