The Lowman Student Center is a 225,000 square foot facility that offers the students, faculty, staff, and greater community a state the art event and programming facility. The Lowman Student Center employs 13 professional staff members, 2 graduate students and over 70 student employees. The Lowman Student Center is an organization that provides a variety of services to the campus community. We support over 8,000 events annually and see over 900,000 guests through our doors each year.
The Director of the Lowman Student Center oversees the Lowman Student Center (LSC) facility operations, strategic marketing, programming efforts, and services offered to students, staff, faculty, and off-campus constituents. Directs staffing and employment issues, all fiscal matters related to the facility, student development, risk management compliance, facilities management liaison, and emergency response. Leads protocols of all infrastructure components of the facility. Oversight of all fiscal, personnel, and facility matters of the department. Prepares budget, supervises personnel selection and evaluation, and oversees facility improvement and ongoing maintenance. Works with staff to develop and expand community engagement and increase revenue generating opportunities. Serves as an advocate and develops relationship with key stakeholders to develop partnership on campus and expand the student center’s influence. Provides the vision for the facility and oversees strategic planning and assessment efforts. Serves on various University and Division of Student Affairs committees. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s degree in facilities management, student affairs, or higher education leadership strongly preferred. Eight years of progressive professional experience and responsibility in student center management or facilities management required. Demonstrated supervisory experience in a student center, a similar work environment, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and strategically planning fiscal matters is required. Extensive experience in recruiting, hiring, training, and managing professional employees.
Knowledge of and ability to comply with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Title IX, institutional and system rules and policies, and State of Texas rules and regulations. Understanding of student development and the role of student affairs in the educational process. Ability to build relationships across campus with students, administrators and other campus community members. Proven ability to gather and utilize assessment data. Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Provides daily contact with other campus departments, faculty, administrative staff, parents, students, alumni, and the general public.
