This 40-hour internship will be compensated by $15/hr for the duration of the 9-week internship (May 24th - July 26th). Housing includes a fully furnished campus apartment and parking passes are provided. Extension of dates negotiable.

Overview
This unique summer internship is a joint opportunity between student activities and the student center. The intern is both a member of the Armstrong Student Center and the Center for Student Engagement, Activities, and Leadership within the Division of Student Life. The intern will dual report to the Assistant Director in both offices and work with colleagues and stakeholders in meeting the departmental mission and in contributing to the holistic development of Miami University students. The intern has duties that pertain to student involvement, programming, and event execution as well as student center building operation and policy management, technology support, and large-scale event support (conferences, weddings, orientations, etc). While we have a listing of possible responsibilities below, we are open to other special projects based on candidate interests and desired professional development.
Student Activities Responsibilities: Assist the Assistant Director of the office in the implementation of office and university priorities by:
Develop and execute late night programming for two sessions of the Summer Scholars pipeline program July 9th to July 21st
Contract, communicate with vendors, confirming reservations and catering details for Miami Activities and Programming (MAP) fall events
Create and procure marketing and branding materials for the fall semester
Coordinate major Welcome Week events, specifically signature MAP events: Wednesday Night Social and Welcome Home
Attend Welcome Weekend, Homecoming, and Family Weekend committee meetings as well as work closely with Enjoy Oxford, our local visitor’s bureau
Attend weekly staff meetings and support summer Orientation sessions
Armstrong Student Center Responsibilities:
Assist the Associate Director of the office in the implementation of office and university priorities by:
Assist in supervising the Event Production Team’s summer staff with the execution of events within the student center.
Provide event and technology support for the annual New Student Orientation program in May and June.
Work with campus stakeholders in the production of major summer campus events including Alumni Weekend, New Student Programs, and Conference Services (weddings, conferences, etc.)
Attend weekly staff meetings and event production meetings
Assist in the development of the student employee program (training, handbook, outcomes, evaluation)
Assist in the implementation of student employee student learning outcomes
Create a programming schedule and marketing for Red Zone (student game/sports area)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Currently enrolled or intending to enroll in a graduate program, Higher Education or related preferred
Demonstration of understanding of the purpose of late-night programming
Ability to work independently and as a team
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Value campus collaboration and innovative thinking
Strong time management skills
Strong social media and marketing skills
Ability to assist with room set ups. Accommodations provided as needed.
