Student Life invites applications for the Director, Student Unions position. In this role, you will provide vision, goal development, leadership, supervision and coordination for the Student Union at both North and South campus and the services provided. You will report to the Senior Associate Vice President (Sr. AVP) and serve as an integral part of the Division of Student Life. Your duties include: Work in concert with student leaders and University staff to create and implement a creative and strategic vision that is consistent with the University and Student Life mission and values. Maintain an affirming and supportive environment through advising, communication, strategic thinking, leadership opportunities, and education in order for students to take full advantage of their student experience. Oversee the entire union operation and its personnel and establish the standards of performance through selection of administrative personnel, budgetary controls, and overall thrust and direction of programs and services Evaluate strategies and programs to measure the achievements of the established goals and seek innovative ways to continually improve services and the Union facilities Create and lead protocols associated with academic and outdoor space utilization for students, based on purview and oversight of scheduling of these spaces The successful candidate will work to build trusted relationships and be visible, accessible, and approachable. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of five years of progressive experience Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a medium size complex organization which provides programs and services that are essential to the student, staff, and faculty community. Demonstrated success in and knowledge of working with a diverse campus community, all aspects of operational, financial and staff resource management; building and cultivating an effective staff culture; excellent customer service skills; and the development, delivery and assessment of programs, facilities, and services. Preferred Qualifications: Skill in working to advance projects to completion. Ability to navigate a campus culture, including campus key stakeholders and varying levels of senior leadership. Awareness and management of technological and operational systems related to the student union and activities. Ability to manage and facilitate successful resolution of conflict situations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Considerable knowledge or experience in student services. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain cooperative working relationships at all levels in the organization. Flexibility to cope with unpredictable opportunities and changes. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or campus stakeholders. Demonstrated motivational skills to resolve conflict.
