Student Activities Coordinator

Summary:
The Student Activities Coordinator (SAC) will support the Deans Team and will work with student leaders to assist with the creation and facilitation of student led events. The SAC will be responsible for all aspects of each event from vision to execution.
The Student Activities Coordinator must be organized, detail oriented, outgoing, creative, have good leadership skills and have the ability to supervise and assist students effectively throughout the event planning process.
This position is a year-round, exempt, full-time position. It is expected that the SAC be present for at least 6 evening hours and 6 hours on the weekends in addition to daily office hours and required meeting attendance. While the schedule is flexible, the SAC is expected to be a presence for the students and to fulfill the needs of the job successfully.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned at any time at the discretion of the employee’s supervisor):
• Work directly with students to facilitate the development and execution of all
student events.
• Provide logistical and administrative coordination for each event including; faculty
chaperones, vendor sourcing, vendor contracting, equipment rentals, documentation, billing, and coordination with various SPS support teams.
• Oversee all student clubs and organizations including the application process, club
support and execution of events and outings.
• Coordinate daily/weekly planning meetings with student leaders, clubs, and
organizations regarding event progress.
• Provide the Dean on Duty with a fully developed event plan prior to the event date.
• Maintain the Dean of Students events calendar.
• Collaborate with Deans and other members of the community regarding events and the desires of the school/students.
• Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Attend all/most events to ensure a smooth operation. Coordinator will be able react
intuitively to correct and seamlessly solve last minute issues that may arise.
Qualification Requirements:
• Associate degree or higher; and at least 2-3 years of experience working in event planning and/or experience advising high school students and/or student organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be organized and able to advance multiple projects simultaneously.

• Must be experienced and have a pleasant, professional manner; and excellent
interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels.
• Must have the ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet deadlines.
• Must be flexible and at home in a busy office environment. Must be able to deal with
many distractions.
• Overtime may be required at certain times of the year based on the School schedule.
Schedule may be flexible during the summer months when School is not in session.
• Must have the ability to work independently. Must be a self-starter.
• Must be highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
