The Director of Nebraska Unions, Events & Services is responsible for creating inclusive and welcoming spaces for students and the university community. The Director will provide strategic vision, leadership, design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive operations plan for student unions, events within the spaces and conference services, managing an operating budget of approximately $10M. They also will supervise staff and operations at the UNL Children’s Center. An experienced growth leader, this individual should employ new and innovative concepts to serve the campus community while increasing revenue from alternate sources to lower students’ cost of attendance, a key component of the Student Affairs Strategic plan.

Minimum Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in higher education, Student Affairs or related field plus minimum of six years of progressively responsible leadership, management, and supervisory experience. Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring cross-functional teams. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion. Demonstrated success developing and leading innovative and entrepreneurial teams. Prior experience advancing a culture of collaboration with stakeholders, affiliates, business partners and professional colleagues. Exceptional written communication and organization skills as evidenced by application materials.

Preferred Requirements: 

Master’s degree in higher education administration preferred. Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and renewal. Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic and administrative colleagues to facilitate student success. Prior experience with innovative revenue generation and achieving the identified fiscal performance targets. Experience working in higher education. Knowledge of UNL policies and procedures preferred. Prior experience in the hospitality and events industry preferred.
