Position Summary:
As a Student Life and Leadership member, the Student Organization Coordinator will work directly with the advising of the Club Council, Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and a large variety of student organizations to develop student leaders and provide engagement opportunities for a diverse group of students.
Duties:
Assist with the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of one administrative assistant and 1 to 2 student employees.
Facilitate interpretation and implementation of policies that govern expectations and risk management.
Develop student-centered procedures and manuals to ensure compliance with UA and UAA policies.
Ensure student organizations are aware of university processes and procedures.
Work in collaboration with the Associate Director to create and support service and leadership programming opportunities.
Facilitate leadership of departmental scholarship review and assist in the planning and execution of the annual honors and awards reception held in the Spring semester.
Facilitate training opportunities for student organization advisors.
Provide vision and direction for the UAA fraternity and Sorority Life community.
Coordinate leadership retreats for the Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and chapter executive board members.
Create and implement Fraternity and Sorority Life programs focusing on critical issues education including social and civic responsibility, leadership, academic success, personal development, risk management, Title IX, alcohol/drug education, hazing, membership recruitment, and retention.
Advise Club Council, Greek Council, Panhellenic Council, and a large variety of student organizations on effective leadership, organization management, recruitment, fundraising, budget management, risk management, conflict resolution, and parliamentary procedure.
Lead programs such as Haunted Halloween Fun Night, Formal FSL recruitment, Greek Week, and the Student Involvement Fair(s).
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is an integral part of the Student Life and Leadership team, providing student engagement experience on campus. The successful candidate would be passionate about working with students, including supervision and advising of student leaders, planning and implementing large-scale programs, and creating and implementing opportunities that engage students in leadership development. As a Student Life and Leadership member, the Student Organization Coordinator will work directly with the advising of the Club Council, Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and a large variety of student organizations to develop student leaders and provide engagement opportunities for a diverse group of students.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of student development theory and leadership education theory.
-Demonstrated ability to work with, advise and lead a variety of university students with a student development philosophy.
- Ability to initiate and lead the development of new and different programs for student engagement.
- Advanced skills in conflict resolution and mediation.
- Experience supervising administrative staff and students, fiscal management, risk management, fundraising, and assessment.
- Advanced organizational skills.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated ability to work well with faculty, students, and administrators. Experience with program development, logistics planning, and developing campus partnerships. Experience with Student Organization advising and working with Fraternities and Sororities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or any other related area preferred.
