The Assistant Director of Event Management and Technology is responsible for the coordination, direction and management of the daily operations and event support within the fast-paced dynamic environment of the Campus Life facilities.
This position will possess the technical specialized knowledge necessary to support and efficiently troubleshoot routine and non-routine issues with a broad range of technologies associated with live event production. This position interacts with a variety of clientele to assess event production needs that include intergraded analog/digital technical systems as well as creates and designs room diagrams and provides outstanding customer service.
The Assistant Director is responsible for the training, supervision, and mentoring of two Multimedia Technical Coordinators and oversees the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, evaluation, and payroll approval for approximately 5-10 part-time student employees or temporary positions. Responsible for budget development and assists with strategic planning. The Assistant Director will lead the technology efforts in Campus Life by providing basic internal support and consulting unit Directors on the best use of technology for their operations and will serve as a liaison to Information Technology Services as well as will maintain the Campus Life website.

The Division of Student Affairs consists of 14 functional departments, each of which is responsible for providing a variety of student support, service, and educational programs which are accessible to all members of the university community. The Campus Life department supports and gives direction to out-of-classroom learning. Based on the philosophy that learning is not confined to the classroom but is constant and on-going, the mission of the department is to facilitate the educational process by providing a laboratory experience for student growth, and an arena for the development of cultural, social, leadership, and recreational awareness. This is accomplished through the administration of the Fisher Student Center, University Union, Burney Center and Warwick Center and their programs and services, by providing guidance and resources to student leaders and organizations, and serving as the campus’ central point of reference in regard to leadership development, student activities and organizations, fraternity and sorority life, and service learning and community engagement.
Campus Life also services as the first point of contact for conference and event planning and assumes the space scheduling coordination function for all campus space (except for academic course scheduling) and works with campus space stewards in various departments throughout campus to ensure timely, coordinated service for all customers.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from a two-year technical college with a major in computer science, information technology or related area and one year in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four year college or university and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or graduation from a four year college or university with a major in computer science or information technology or related degree. Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Master’s preferred, with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- EMS Scheduling software and Social Tables room design software.
- Experience with event technology.
- Ability to be an effective supervisor.
- Ability to organize and effectively present information to groups or individuals in various formats.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, analytical reporting and data management
