The division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management is seeking a Director, Student Union – Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities Include:
- Oversees the entire union operation and its personnel.
- Establishes the overall standards of performance through selection of administrative personnel, budgetary controls, and overall thrust and direction of programs and services.
- Serves as the primary communication link between the Student Union and other campus departments and the community.
- Works directly with the Student Union Advisory Board and stimulates and coordinates all staff and student effort to realize the union’s educational and service objectives.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and interpretation of policies and procedures necessary successful administration and management of the facility, including the oversight of facilities operations, scheduling of external, departmental and student sponsored programs and events and determining support activity requirements.
- Develops and maintains an ongoing program to promote and solicit civic and commercial rental of the facility including the negotiation of contract rental rates.
- Maintains close working relationship with departmental entities, student groups and organizations to ensure a schedule of events to meet the needs of various university special interest groups.
- Provides event management for university major events including Commencement. Serve as the divisional point of contact to University Event Management for major Student Affairs events.
- Supports major student organization sponsored events regardless of location of campus. Provide functional oversight to the Student Unions at Davie & Jupiter.
- Responsible for the management of the Carole & Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium and administration of management agreements for affiliated box office services. Serve as contract administrator for various renters and tenants.
- Responsible for overall management of the Student Union facility and affiliated outdoor spaces including safety and security, maintenance, event management and marketing functions.
- Formulates and administers annual operating budgets for the facility. Assesses changes to maintain and forecast income/expense budgets on a per event basis.
- Responsible for the employment, training, and supervision of permanent facility staff and special event personnel on a per event basis.
- Collaborates with Student Government including the Student Union Advisory Board toward the establishment of policies and procedures related to the operation of the facility. Oversees assessment strategy for the Student Union including student learning and student/ customer satisfaction.
- May represent the university on appropriate committee at the national, state, and university level.
- Manages facilities related projects for the division of Student Affairs. Provide oversight for and scheduling of Maintenance/Custodial staff of Student Union & Campus Recreation at Boca Raton.
- Manages the FAU eSports Arena and affiliated competitive teams.
- Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of his/her area.
Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience required.
