POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the Director of Student Activities and Leadership, the Assistant Director of Student Activities and Engagement will focus on student engagement and retention through leadership and student activities.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties will include:
- Assist the Director to develop and implement student activities that meet the broad interests and needs of the student body and are based on student development theory, diversity and community service.
- Work with the Director to create and execute approaches to continuously recruit students to participate in club activities and to attend co-curricular events on and off-campus. Participate in campus-wide retention and persistence outreach and activities
- Collaborate with campus partners to generate and employ methods to integrate individuals into the educational and social life of the college.
- Partner with other areas of the campus community to foster and enhance an educational and supportive environment for student learning through student involvement and engagement activities both in-person and in virtual settings.
- Work with Institutional Research to implement an assessment strategy that will use learning outcomes and best practices to assess participation in student leadership and activities.
- Assist in developing, managing and evaluating the communication strategy for the Office of Student Activities (OSA).
- Oversee the technology strategy for OSA and the student clubs, including the publication materials and social media usage.
- Assist in the supervision over activities, staff, and programs of the OSA.
- Manage student organization processes such as: student organization registration, starting a new student organization, and assisting student organizations to coordinate co-sponsored campus events. Accompanies students and student groups on off-campus trips as necessary.
- Work with and provides on-going guidance and advice to registered student organizations and their faculty advisors pertaining to college rules and regulations, including recruitment, event planning and fiscal management.
- Serve as on-site administrator for all student-sponsored programs including evening and weekend events. Support the day-to-day operation and approved activities of the student government association.
- Provide assistance with major college-wide events such as commencement, orientation, registration and honors convocation. Oversee the production of the yearbook and coordinate the taking of yearbook portraits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
Other Qualifications
- Master's degree in student personnel administration, higher education or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of best practices in student success program implementation with an emphasis on research, assessment, and data-informed decision making highly desired.
- Experience in implementation of programs for a diverse student population, and evidence of successful college-wide collaborations.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with attention to detail, and proven leadership.
- Ability to work evening hours and weekends as necessary.
- Be a dynamic individual can work independently and under general supervision to provide courteous and accurate customer service to all students, visitors and campus community.
- Be or have been involved in professional associations.
- Have proficiency in various software programs, especially Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
Vaccine mandate:

Salary $51,242 - $66,670
