The Operations Manager for Student Engagement and Campus Life provides oversight and leadership of Squires Student Center, Johnston Student Center, Graduate Life Center, and Owens’ Ballroom. They will ensure the Student Centers are affirming and welcoming environment as well as the central programming venues for student life The Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day building management and guest-facing operations such as the Welcome Desk and event management. Additionally, the Operation Manager leads the overall management and development of the Operations Student Staff umbrella, including recruitment, training, evaluation, and supervision, consistently ensuring policies and procedures are administered and learning outcomes are achieved. They will supervise two full time Operations Coordinators. They will also assist with risk management activities, budget development, inventory control, technology oversight and other projects as needed in support of the mission of Student Engagement and Campus Life. The Operations Manager reports to the Assistant Director for Event Services and works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners to assist with their needs and making their events safe and successful on-campus.

Required:

Bachelors degree and/or equivalent related experience in Student Personnel Administration, Facility Management, Business or related field. General operations and/or facility management experience in a student union, hospitality, community center, recreational center, or related environment. Previous experience scheduling, supervising and directing the work of others. Operations management experience including project management and building management. Must possess strong organizational skills that include the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and perform multiple functions simultaneously. Demonstrated supervisory or advisory experience. Demonstrated knowledge of risk management practices. Experience or training with cash/revenue management. Demonstrated knowledge of computer programs including Windows, Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with diverse, multicultural student and staff population. Ability to interpret, communicate, and effectively enforce policies and regulations. Demonstrated ability to successfully operate autonomously and within a team based environment.

Preferred:

Experience directly supervising student employees and/or professional staff. Previous management experience in an educational environment. Experience in risk management practices for a public facility. Masters degree and/or equivalent related experience in Student Personnel Administration, Facility Management, Business or related field. Experience in basic custodial or maintenance trades.
